Jan de Vries

Photography is my hobby and my passion and also an escape from my job. I started taking pictures as a child, bought my first analog camera at the age of 14 and used to photograph mainly landscape. I also love travelling, took lots of scenery pics, longtime expose at night, but then one day I decided to capture different moments, people, street life. I visited workshops and hoped I could improve that way. But I found out that the only way to improve is to go out and take pictures. In 2017 my focus went to female portraits, in 2019 I decided to switch to black and white pictures. I prefer working with available light, mostly on location and really enjoy the different encounters with persons in front of my camera, get to know them a little bit and create authentic portraits. Next level could be some more of storytelling and/or publishing a book.
