A Review of the Sigma 24mm f/3.5 DG DN Contemporary Lens

At just two inches (five cm) long and 8.1 oz (230 g), the Sigma 24mm f/3.5 DG DN Contemporary is an exceedingly portable lens at an ideal focal length for walkaround work or quick and versatile events coverage. This great video review takes a look at the lens and if its image quality and performance can match its sleek design.

Coming to you from Gordon Laing, this great video review takes a look at the Sigma 24mm f/3.5 DG DN Contemporary lens. Of course, to get to its extremely small size and light weight, the 24mm f/3.5 sacrifices a wider maximum aperture, but that is not always a drawback, depending on your needs. It still has a range of helpful features, including:

  • One Special Low Dispersion element for reduced chromatic aberrations and increased clarity
  • Three aspherical elements for reduced distortion and increased sharpness
  • Super Multi-Layer Coating for reduced flares and ghosting and increased contrast
  • High maximum magnification of 1:2 (minimum focusing distance of 4.25 inches)
  • Stepping motor for smooth and quiet autofocus
  • Manual aperture ring
  • Rounded seven-blade diaphragm for smoother bokeh
  • Brass bayonet with rubber-sealed mount
  • Magnetic lens cap

Altogether, the 24mm f/3.5 looks like a great option for anyone looking for an ultra-portable wide angle. Check out the video above for Laing's full thoughts.
