A letter of suport for The Tinfoil Muse Project

Support comes in so many ways, Thank you Will!

The arts provide a unique insight into evolution. Through examining the breadth of an artist’s works, one may glimpse a progression of growth, technique, style, and empathy, as manifest through the artist’s varied media. Subsequently, the viewer may consciously, or unconsciously, absorb second-hand wisdom, namely those same aforementioned attributes, handed down and imbued through the art, furthering its evolutionary nature far beyond the artist’s own direct reach. With each piece presented to the public, a new life, a chaotic Darwinian being, materializes and the impact of that action is infinite.

A compelling work only begins with its outward aesthetic values, a tantalizing subject matter to engage the viewer’s attention and present an initial mood, allowing time for the for the underlying depth and meaning to be actively, or passively, imbibed. We are a programmed populace, trained to react like Pavlovian dogs to certain cues, a tool used by the greatest of artists, to the most cunning of propagandists, throughout the ages. Capture our focus and then subtly present the hints, the puzzles, the knowledge, the history that challenges perceptions and alters viewpoints along with understanding.

Art creates that connection, almost a sense of family or deep friendship, where ideally, once engaged with the initial subject matter, drawn to its message and mood, a deeper connection emerges, captivating the viewer to dig deeper and discover the hidden truths behind the work, and that’s where the real magic begins with the Tinfoil Muse series, a photographic collection of ephemeral studies, captured and presented by Brian Morris. One can’t help but be compelled immediately by the hypnotic lines and tantalizing shapes of each subject, presented in stark relief and electric tones, and then it begins; the deeper one dives into the prodigious prints, the clues and subtle hints into the life and history of each being presented in the series begin to unfold. As Benjamin Gibbard writes in his song Monday Morning, “ But all these lines and greys refine, they are the maps of our design“, and here, within this series, the roadmap belonging to each subject of the Tinfoil Muse collection becomes immortalized for generations to learn from, be moved by, and to attain inspiration or enlightenment from and manifest a higher self.

Even in this early pre-dawn stage of this project, I’ve already gleaned new insights into the human condition, and a new understanding of life in this our modern age which overwhelms with innovation and opportunity and simultaneously torments through poverty and disease. We’ve been trained to cover those scars, yet they bear witness to stories needing to be told, to be heard and engaged with as a society and within our communities, and to that end I’m proud to be a donor to the Tinfoil Muse project, and to be part of something that goes beyond, outliving this fleeting instant we cavort within this universe. It’s ever-expanding, and through the additions of the Tinfoil Muse imagery, so are we…

A California native, I was born in the United States to NASA parents. As a child I was fascinated by the pictures of airplanes, space objects and rockets found hanging in the hallway. I was intrigued by the technical craft of the photographic process that today is my passion. I bought my first camera from a cracker jack box ad selling a spy camera and tiny film for mere dollars compared to today. As I aged into my college years , I then became fascinated with the Arts. It was in college that I studied drawing, painting, sculpting and design. Originally, I’d intended to finish with a Fine-Art degree in teaching, but my heart was leaning toward design and soon after, photography became my focus. The past 30 years of Intense study with infield practice of fashion, lifestyle, sports action photography with the lens tuned on the top women of surf, skate and snow, I am now preparing a sports and lifestyle inspired Swim-fit brand. I intend to continue pushing the boundaries of photography and the genre of Swim-fit until it takes a life of its own. SIRROM
